Yellow Jackets have a confusing history with regard to their identity. They were known as Parachromis loisellei until 2018, when Rico Morgenstern concluded that the fish known as P. loisellei was in fact P. friedrichsthalii. (The fish many had been calling P. friedrichsthalii in the aquarium trade was classified as P. multifasciatus.) This species gets very large when mature and should not be housed in a tank smaller than 100 gallons. These fish typically act very aggressively towards tank mates, especially when breeding. The fish we currently offer are descendants of fish collected from the Pantanos de Centla.
