The Orange Storm clownfish is a captivating, captive-bred variant of the Ocellaris clownfish featuring a vibrant orange base with large, irregular white blotches and swirls. Also known as Amphiprion ocellaris, this fish has an eye-catching, unique pattern, orange and white coloration on its face, and often has black-tipped fins. It is a hardy, reef-safe fish that is well-suited for beginner and experienced aquarists and can be kept in groups in saltwater tanks, sometimes with an anemone host.
Key Characteristics

  • Appearance: A distinct pattern of large, variable white swirls and spots on an orange body, often with a predominantly orange and white face and black eyes.
  • Behavior: Known for their unique wiggling motion when interacting with anemones and a semi-aggressive nature towards other clownfish.
  • Diet: Omnivorous, requiring a varied diet of meaty and plant-based foods, including high-quality pellets, flakes, and frozen Mysis shrimp or brine shrimp.
  • Habitat: Thrives in saltwater aquariums and can form a symbiotic relationship with an anemone host, though it can also adapt well to life without one.
  • Temperament: Considered hardy and relatively peaceful as juveniles, but can become semi-aggressive, especially towards other clownfish.
Aquarium Care

  • Tank Setup: A minimum of 20-30 gallons is recommended to provide adequate space for swimming and hiding.
  • Compatibility: Reef-safe, meaning it can be kept with most corals and invertebrates. It's best to house them in pairs or small groups to promote natural hierarchy.
  • Anemones: While not essential, providing a host anemone can enrich their natural behavior and well-being.
