Geophagus Dicrozoster (Dicrozoster Eartheater)

The Geophagus dicrozoster, or Dicrozoster Eartheater, is a peaceful, South American cichlid known for its "split belt" body pattern (a Y-shape formed by body bars), prominent black cheek bars, iridescent hues, and fascinating habit of sifting fine sand for food. Reaching about 8 inches, they thrive in soft, acidic water with sandy substrates and do best in groups in spacious community tanks with peaceful tank mates, displaying vibrant colors when water conditions are ideal.
