Mocha Storm Clownfish Amphiprion Ocellaris – Sims Tropical ...
The Chocolate Mocha clownfish is a designer variant of the Ocellaris clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) known for its rich chocolate-brown body color and typically orange face. It features the standard three white vertical stripes, though patterns can vary, sometimes exhibiting a "misbar" (incomplete or unique bar) pattern. These captive-bred fish are generally hardy, peaceful, and suitable for beginner aquarists, thriving in saltwater aquariums with stable parameters and a minimum size of 20-30 gallons.
Physical Appearance

  • Coloration:A striking combination of dark brown and mocha tones, with an orange-brown face.
  • Stripes:Features three white vertical bars, but the pattern can be irregular, a trait known as "misbar".
  • Fins:Some varieties, such as the "Chocolate Mocha Roundtail Longfin," have distinctively long and round fins.
  • Size:Reaches a maximum size of about 3 inches.
Origin and Breeding

  • Designer Variant:Not found in the wild, but selectively bred from the wild Ocellaris clownfish.
  • Captive-Bred:Being captive-bred makes them hardier and more accustomed to aquarium life.
  • Unique Genetics:Created by pairing specific Ocellaris and Black and White Darwin Ocellaris clownfish.
Aquarium Care

  • Temperament:Generally peaceful and suitable for community saltwater tanks.
  • Diet:Omnivorous, accepting a wide variety of foods including flakes, pellets, and frozen foods like mysis shrimp.
  • Tank Requirements:A 20-30 gallon or larger saltwater tank is recommended.
  • Social Behavior:Can be kept singly or in groups, and females grow larger than males.
  • Anemones:While they can host anemones for protection, a host anemone is not necessary for their survival in a home aquarium.
