Oceans Garden Aquaculture SA Chocolate Domino Clownfish ...
The Chocolate Misbar clownfish is a designer captive-bred variety of the Ocellaris clownfish, characterized by a dark chocolate-brown body with mocha tones and a disrupted "misbar" pattern of white stripes instead of the typical complete bars. Each fish has unique, irregular striping and may even have only a single dot or missing bars, sometimes framed by a black outline. These peaceful, omnivorous fish are suitable for reef tanks, require stable saltwater parameters, and are a good choice for beginners and experienced aquarists alike due to their hardiness.
Appearance

  • Color:A base of dark chocolate brown, with mocha tones blended in.
  • Stripes:The defining feature is the "misbar" pattern, meaning the white stripes are incomplete, broken, or even missing entirely. Some specimens might have only a head bar or a tail dot.
  • Outlines:The stripes and fins can have an irregular black outline.
  • Uniqueness:Each Chocolate Misbar clownfish has unique and varied markings.
Care & Environment

  • Diet:As omnivores, they will eat a variety of marine fish foods, including pellets, flakes, and frozen options like Mysis and brine shrimp.
  • Temperament:Generally peaceful and reef-safe, making them good additions to community tanks.
  • Water Parameters:They need stable conditions, with typical water parameters for a marine environment: approximately 78° F, dKH 8-12, pH 8.1-8.4, and a specific gravity of 1.020-1.025.
  • Tank Life:They are captive-bred, which makes them hardier and better adapted to home aquariums. They can form a symbiotic relationship with an anemone, such as a Bubble Tip anemone.
Breeding & Origin

  • Designer Morphs:This is not a naturally occurring variety but a man-made variation that arose from selectively breeding Ocellaris clownfish.
  • Captive-Bred:The entire "misbar" trait is a result of selective breeding in captivity, which has benefits such as increased hardiness and disease resistance compared to wild-caught fish.
