The Black Ice clownfish is a captive-bred variation of the Amphiprion ocellaris clownfish, distinguished by its deep orange body, irregular white stripes, and intensely black edging on the white bars and fins. It is a hardy, reef-safe, and generally peaceful saltwater fish, though it can become territorial as an adult. The Black Ice clownfish thrives in aquariums with live rock, provides a fascinating symbiotic relationship with anemones, and accepts a varied diet of frozen foods, flakes, and algae.
Appearance

  • Coloration:A bright, deep orange base color with three distinct, irregular white bars.
  • Markings:These white bars are bordered by intense black coloration, giving the fish its "Black Ice" appearance.
  • Fins:The black coloration extends to the edges of all the fins.
  • Scientific Name:Amphiprion ocellaris.
Temperament and Compatibility

  • Peaceful:Generally peaceful and a good choice for a beginner aquarium, it can be kept in small groups or pairs.

  • Tank Mates:Compatible with most other reef-safe fish and invertebrates but avoid mixing different genera of clownfish in the same tank.
