This species is one of several closely related and extremely similar species collectively known as Rummynose Tetra in the hobby, with \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003ePetitella bleheri\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e coming from the Rio Negro in Brazil and \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003ePetitella georgiae\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e from Peru also sometimes encountered.
